Description
NT scan (Nuchal Translucency scan) is a prenatal ultrasound done between 11-14 weeks of pregnancy to screen for chromosomal abnormalities like Down syndrome. It’s usually done vaginally or abdominally.
The NT scan measures the fluid at the back of the baby’s neck. It’s a screening test, not diagnostic, so it can’t confirm conditions like Down syndrome, but it assesses the risk. The results, combined with blood tests and other factors, help decide if further testing is needed. It’s usually done between 11-14 weeks.
